Muscat’s Hidden Stairway
The Wadi Al Kabir hiking trail (often called the Hamriya to Wadi Kabir hike) is a local favorite for a reason. It bridges the gap between urban life and the rugged Hajar Mountains. The path takes you from the valley floor up to a high plateau, where the city noise fades away and you’re left with nothing but the wind and the sight of the turquoise sea in the distance.Things to Do

Trip & Itinerary Advice
Best Time to Visit
Season: October to April. Since there is very little shade, hiking here in the summer is not recommended. Time of Day: 6:00 AM for a sunrise hike or 4:00 PM for a sunset trek. Avoid the midday sun at all costs.Pro Tips
Difficulty: This is a Level 1–2 hike. It is family-friendly but involves a steep initial climb that will get your heart racing. Gear: Wear sturdy sneakers or hiking boots. The rocks can be loose and "shaly," making it easy to slip on the descent. Water: There are no shops on the mountain. Bring at least 2 liters of water per person, even for this shorter trek.Suggested 2-Hour Itinerary
