Welcome to the blog of Oman Explorer
Jabal Shams, often referred to as the "Mountain of the Sun," is the highest peak in Oman, reaching an elevation of approximately 3,009 meters (9,872 feet). Located in the Al Hajar Mountains, it is renowned for its dramatic landscapes, including deep canyons, rugged cliffs, and sweeping panoramic views. Jabal Shams is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, offering opportunities for hiking, trekking, and camping. The area's notable attraction is the "Wadi Ghul," sometimes called the Grand Canyon of Oman, which showcases the mountain’s impressive geological features. Jabal Shams provides a striking contrast to Oman’s typically arid terrain, featuring cooler temperatures and diverse flora and fauna.
