Welcome to the blog of Oman Explorer
Located on the edge of the Wahiba Sands (Sharqiya Sands), Bidiyah is a desert town known for its access to golden sand dunes, Bedouin culture, and adventure tourism. It’s a gateway to one of Oman’s most iconic desert experiences.

Cultural Performances at Camps
Some desert camps host evenings with traditional Omani music, dance, and food.
Best Time to Visit: October to April. Avoid summer months due to extreme heat in the desert.
4x4 Required: A four-wheel-drive vehicle is necessary to enter the Wahiba Sands. Standard cars can reach Bidiyah town, but not the dunes.
What to Bring: Sunscreen, water, light and breathable clothing, warm layers for night, sunglasses, and a camera.
Stay Hydrated: Desert conditions can be dehydrating even in cooler months, so always carry water.
Respect Local Customs: Dress modestly in town and ask permission before photographing people, especially in villages.
Book Camps in Advance: Popular desert camps can fill up quickly during weekends and holidays.
Travel Early or Late: For activities like dune bashing or climbing, go early in the morning or late afternoon to avoid midday heat.
Mobile Signal: Expect limited reception in deeper parts of the desert — let someone know your plans in advance.
